The 1934 season marked Stilwell's the return of "Indians" as the school's mascot. There would be an attempt by the School Board to change the name back to Pirates in 1942, but the motion was criticized heavily by the townspeople who argued that Stilwell's Athletic teams had began as Indians and the majority of the players and students in the Stilwell school system were of Indian descent.
