Greeley Mounger, who took
over for "Goob" Arnold in 1942 when World War II hit full stride in
America, was the school principal. Considering his lack of coaching
experience Mounger did quite well posting a 22-9-2 record in four
seasons

As promised Wagoner returned to the NOAA
conference giving the league 8 members again.

Wagoner was arguably the best team in class B in
1945 but never got a chance to prove it. The Bulldogs sailed to a
perfect record and a spot in the Class B State Championship game.
Unfortunately an influenza epidemic struck the Wagoner campus the week
of the Title game. The Bulldogs didn't have enough healthy players to
field a team and were forced to forfeit. Wagoner has not yet made
it back to the State Championship game. |
