The 1988 was a Class 3A Quarterfinals contest. Despite at least two tornado warnings at least a block away from the stadium, as well as very dangerous lightning, officials ordered the game begin. The lightning, hail and heavy rains continued throughout the game, killing the Indians Option-I offense.


The 1989 game was a Class 3A Quarterfinals contest. The game was closer than the final score indicated. Stilwell, trailing 13-0 moved inside the Savages 5 yard line with 5:00 left and momentum behind them. Things quickly changed when All-State Linebacker Bobby Gordon deflected and intercepted what would have been a touchdown pass. Gordon returned the interception for a touchdown sealing the win. The Savages would go on to win the Class 3A State Championship. After the Championship win coach Rich Jones told reporters that the championship had been won two weeks earlier when BB defeated Stilwell, "..the best team we played all season"

The 1990 was one of the biggest upsets in school history. Stilwell at 3-6 came into the game riding a 6 game losing streak. Broken Bow came into the game with a State longest 23 game winning streak.
